Night of Arhitecture 2026

Night of architecture

The theme "Shadows of the Mediterranean" reflects on the Mediterranean as a spatial condition shaped by the interplay of light and shadow, topography, materiality, and the culture of dwelling. Here, shadow is understood as one of the fundamental means of architecture — through it, space gains depth and measure, establishes thresholds, finds shelter, and forms a subtle relationship with the landscape. The theme presents Mediterranean architecture as a practice of adaptation to climatic conditions, the configuration of the terrain, the logic of materials, and the rhythms of everyday life, where architecture does not impose itself on space, but rather emerges naturally from it.

Amelia Tavella Architects

Amelia Tavella is a French architect, born in Corsica, and founder of her Paris-based studio, established in 2007. Her work is internationally recognized for its deeply contextual approach, rooted in landscape, memory, and cultural continuity. Guided by the principle “to build without erasing, to transform by revealing,” her architecture engages with existing conditions to uncover the latent qualities of each site. Her projects — ranging from cultural and educational facilities to heritage interventions — develop an architecture of permanence, where materiality becomes a sensitive interface between place, time, and use. Her work has received international recognition, notably through the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture, for which she was named laureate, and as a finalist for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award. Regularly invited to speak at international conferences, Amelia Tavella contributes to a broader discourse on architecture as an act of continuity — reconciling heritage, transformation, and sustainability.
